WEST MILTON — Toughness, hustle, and good basketball …

The rivalry game between Tippecanoe and Milton-Union lived up to the billing Saturday evening.

In the end, it was the Red Devils that came out on top, winning by a score of 46-44. It was the second win over a rival school in as many nights for Tipp, which defeated Troy by a 12-point margin on Friday.

The Devils (5-1, 1-1 Central Buckeye Conference Kenton Trail Division) were led by Ben Stucke, who scored 18 points. Tipp returns to league play Friday, hosting Shawnee.

Milton was led by Caleb Poland (22 points). The Bulldogs (4-2, 3-1) return to Southwestern Buckeye Conference Buckeye Division play Friday at Waynesville.

“The biggest thing for us was rebounding and free throws, obviously they had a lot more size than us,” Milton-Union coach Rusty Berner said. “We went 11 for 18 at the line, and you can’t afford to do that in a rivalry game.

“Both teams battled on both ends, it was a good game. Unfortunately one team had to lose.”
