TROY — Another Troy Christian school record fell Friday night.

And the Eagles needed every bit of it, too.

Grant Zawadzki scored 39 points, a new single-game school record, to help Troy Christian (8-1, 4-0 Metro Buckeye Conference) survive a tough test against a scrappy Miami Valley squad, putting the game away with a 17-7 fourth quarter to win 66-50.

Zawadzki was 6 for 12 from 3-point range and another 9 for 13 inside the arc in the game.

“When things were tough, Grant took over,” Troy Christian coach Ray Zawadzki said. “He was shooting the ball well, but you’ve also got to credit the other kids for finding him in the right places.

“Miami Valley gave us everything we could handle tonight. They presented a good challenge for us, and I was very happy with the way the kids responded.”

Logan George added 11 points for Troy Christian, which travels to Miami East for a non-league test tonight.

Austin Persinger scored 10 points to lead Troy (2-8, 0-3), while Taren Kinnel and Tre Hudson each scored seven.

Waynesville 68,

Milton-Union 60

WAYNESVILLE — Matt Brumbaugh hit five of Milton-Union’s 10 3s on the night and scored 25 points, but it wasn’t enough as Waynesville (5-2, 3-0 Southwestern Buckeye League Buckeye Division) remained the only team in the Buckeye without a loss in division play with a 68-60 victory.

“We got outrebounded 36-18, and we shot 6 for 14 from the line. That’s the story of the game,” Milton-Union coach Rusty Berner said. “Due to our effort, we just never gave ourselves a shot to win.”

Ben Stelzer chipped in 13 points and six assists and Caleb Poland added 13 points.
