WEST MILTON - The Parks Board is one step closer to a design for Old School Park.
Jacyn Design Group, the firm hired to complete the master design, initially met with board members in November. On Jan. 21, they came back to the board to explain items such as land contours, how water would drain and sight lines, according to Municipal Manager Matt Kline.
Then the firm got the board members involved. The board was separated into two groups. Each group was given a blank map of the seven and a half acre area and pieces of paper representing items on the list that the Park Board first brainstormed last year: all kinds of park options including tennis courts, splash pad, fitness trail, benches, swing set, merry-go-round, etc. The groups had to plot out each item that they wanted as to where they thought it might go. Then Jacyn Design brought the groups back together for discussion of where they put the items and why they chose to put them there.
The next step is for Jacyn Design to take the ideas presented and create a third option, to be presented at the next meeting.
The next Parks Board meeting is set for 6:30 p.m., Tuesday, Feb. 18. The public is encouraged to not only attend, but participate in the discussion at this meeting.
