To the Editor:
The Troy community continues to be supportive of its nonprofits, as evidenced by the success of the Third annual Sweetheart Shuffle 5K Walk/Run held on Feb. 8. More than 120 individuals braved the frigid weather to complete the 3.1-mile course, which is the second race on the Miami County Tour. The funds raised will help the Troy Rec with its continued renovation project.
Additionally, our list of corporate and individual sponsors topped the charts, and we are so very grateful for their financial backing. These sponsors include: Up and Running, ITW Welding Products Group, Dave Arbogast, JOS Contracting LLC., Francis Manufacturing, Hobart Brothers, William & Boss Jewelers, Battelle Rippe Kingston, Bakehouse Bread and Cookie Company, Premier Health Are Care Hours, Wappoo Wood Products Inc., Primary Eyecare Associates, Koverman Staley Dickerson Insurance, The Studio, RJ Ballroom, Active Foot and Ankle, Troy City Council President Marty Baker, Steve Baker of WHIO TV Northern Bureau, Yellow Tree Yoga, Troy City Councilman Alan Clark, Jim’s Towing, Fisher Cheney Funeral Home, Wal-mart, Oakley Chiropractic, David Fair on the Square, Sunset Cleaners, Award One, La Piazza, La Fiesta, The Caroline, Expressions of the Home, Dorothy Love 5K, Culver’s and Boston Stoker Coffee House.
Finally, the Troy Rec would like to thank both the Troy City Schools/athletic director David Palmer for the use of the Troy Memorial Stadium’s Alumni Room and the city of Troy Parks Department/Superintendent Jeremy Drake for plowing the trail. Winter races can be difficult to plan for, but these men and their staff made the logistics as convenient and safe as possible. We hope to continue our success in the years to come.
President, Board of Directors of the Troy Rec
