Shredding event set
TROY — Abbey Credit Union and Angie Shred will offer a Shred Fest event from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. May 3 at the Miami County Sanitary Engineering facility, 2200 N. County Road 25-A, Troy.
Miami County residents will receive a limit of four bags or four paper boxes at the event and there will be a charge if over this amount. Office paper and folders only can be accepted at this event.

Make an impact
PIQUA — “An Evening of Impact,” will be offered in the third floor ballroom at Z’s, Piqua, on April 5, sponsored by SafeHaven Inc. The event will include a catered dinner, music from the Eric Jerardi Band and a silent auction. Tickets are $20 purchased in advance by calling (937) 272-3446 or leaving a message at (937) 615-9534, or $25 at the door the night of the event. There will be a cash bar. Proceeds will benefit SafeHaven’s mission to provide educational, social and vocational support for the mentally ill.
Pond clinic April 15
ROSSBURG — The annual Tri-County Pond Clinic, sponsored by the Shelby, Darke and Miami Soil and Water Conservation Districts, will be April 15 at the home of Dan and Vicki Turner, 12774 Rhynard Fink Road, Rossburg. The agenda will include fish stocking and management, aquatic plant management and any other topics brought up by those in attendance. Participants are asked to bring blankets and dress for the weather as the event will be moved inside only if necessary.

Brukner 5K seeks participants
TROY — If you enjoy running or hiking the woodland trails, you’ll enjoy Brukner Nature Center’s annual 5K Run Wild at 9:30 a.m. April 19.
All proceeds benefit BNC’s wildlife programs, so bring your friends and family and join in the fun. Each intrepid participant will receive a commemorative organic cotton T-shirt, homemade cookies, a visit with the wildlife ambassadors and the opportunity to win some eco-friendly door prizes.
The pre-registration fee of $20 for BNC Members ($25 for non-members) must be postmarked by April 11 and will guarantee a shirt on race day. Late and same-day registration is $25 for BNC members ($30 for non-members) but no T-shirt will be available. This year participants can choose the “no shirt” option and save $5 on registration.
