The Monroe Township Trustees appointed Kenzie Phillips to the Tipp Monroe Cable Access Commission at the township board meeting held on June 2. Phillips will be serving on the commission as a resident of the unincorporated area of Monroe Township, and is accepting the unexpired term of Jeff Baird that expires Dec. 31, 2016.
In other business, the trustees listened to storm water issues explained by a resident of Dixie Terra where water problems arose from the heavy rains to the area on May 21. A report from the township’s maintenance department also addressed what the township faced with excess water in the township basement during that same water event.
It was noted in another report that the township information tent staff was busy for several days just prior to Memorial Day giving out gravesite information and directions at Maple Hill Cemetery.
Residents are reminded the Monroe Township Water and Sewer District meeting will be 6 p.m. Monday, June 9. The public is invited to attend this monthly meeting, always held in the township meeting room at 6 E. Main Street, Tipp City.
Events featured in other township reports included season beginning each Saturday of Tipp City’s Farmer’s Market on June 14 from 9 a.m. – 12 p.m.; Tipp City Masonic Lodge Open House from 2-4 p.m., also on June 14; and the 2014 Antique & Artisan Show in downtown Tipp City on Saturday, June 21 from 9 a.m. - 4 p.m.
Bills paid at the township meeting totaled $31,224.81. The board also accepted the financial status reports of May 2013 and the bank reconciliation on April 30, 2014 as submitted by the township fiscal officer.
The next township trustees meeting is set for Monday, June 16 at 7 p.m.
