TIPP CITY — The Children’s Art Adventure — set for Saturday — is a themed arts festival for children in the area.
The event will be hosted by the Tipp City Area Arts Council and offers activities for children ages 3-14 from the Miami Valley and surrounding communities, and gives them a chance to explore many forms of art.
The theme of the festival is called “PLAY!” and it gives children a change to create projects that they can play with again. This summer there will be 25 art stations that give children opportunities to learn and try many things such as sponge bombs, Star Wars origami, cupcake decorating, tie dye T-shirts, light sabers, neck tie snakes and bongo drums.
Admission allows unlimited workshop participation and includes all of the supplies for the projects.
Participation in art stations requires a wristband that will be $5 per child in advance at Tipp-Monroe Community Services, located at 3 E. Main St., Tipp City, or $7 the day of the event at the information booth.
August 2013 was the inaugural year for the Children’s Art Adventure. The initial plans included 10 art stations. However, with the support of the community organizations, businesses, and individuals, the festival grew to 19 art stations as well as the participation from the Tipp City police, fire and EMS departments.
Two-hundred children came from all over the Dayton area to attend the festival. There were close to 150 volunteers, including the artists. Twenty-one local businesses, organizations and individuals supported the Children’s Art Adventure through monetary donations, gift cards and materials.
The Children’s Art Adventure will be from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday on 3rd Street and Broadway in Tipp City.
