• PIQUA PORTALS: Portal to Piqua’s Past: “Christmas in Piqua” — Piqua Public Library Director and local historian James Oda shares stories of family Christmas traditions in Piqua homes. Meets at 7 p.m. in the Louis Room at the library, 116 W. High St.
• STORY TIME: “Quilts” are the theme in this week’s story time at Milton-Union Public Library. Storytime will begin at 10:30 a.m. and at 1:30 p.m. at the library. Stories, crafts, games and puppet shows are included in the activities for preschool children and their caretakers.
• The Tipp City American Legion Post 586 will serve John’s sliders with toppings and chips, two for $2 starting at 6 p.m.

• FREE MOVIE: Bring snacks and a friend to watch “The Secret Life of Pets” at 6 p.m. in the Louis Room at the Piqua Public Library, 116 W. High St. The rated PG film is 90 minutes long.

• DISCUSSION GROUP: The book this month is “Comfort and Joy” by Kristin Hannah. The book is a great Christmas read. The group will meet from noon to 1:30 p.m. in the multi-purpose room at the Milton-Union Public Library.

• HOT DOGS: The American Legion Auxiliary Unit 586, Tipp City, will offer hot dogs with toppings and chips for $2 or with french fries for $3. Cookies will be available two for 50 cents. Serving begins at 6 p.m. Stay and enjoy Euchre at 7 p.m.

• LECTURE SERIES: Vietnam fighter pilot and POW, Guy Gruters, will discuss the heroics of others as well as how he turned hate to love, despair to hope, fear to courage and bitterness into forgiveness during his five year and three month stay as a POW in Vietnam from 7-8:30 p.m. at the WACO Air Museum, 1865 S. • LUNCHEON: The Tipp City Seniors members and guests will have a carry-in luncheon at noon at 320 S. First St., Tipp City. Bingo will follow as well as blood pressure checks.

• HOLIDAY EVENT: The Pleasant Hill Library will offer a holiday celebration from 6-7:30 p.m. This event includes cookies, holiday music, and a special storytime at 6:30 p.m. Participants can make an ornament craft to take home. • FRIDAY DINNERS: The Covington VFW Post 4235, 73 N. High St., will offer dinners, including broasted chicken, New York strip steaks, fish and shrimp and a variety of sandwiches from 5-8 p.m.
• Johnny marzetti: Come and enjoy Johnny marzetti, salad, garlic bread and dessert served by the American Legion Auxiliary Unit 586, Tipp City, for $8 beginning at 6 p.m.
• PORK CHOP: A smoked pork chop dinner will be offered at 6 p.m. at the Troy Fish & Game.
• SNOWFLAKE DANCE: The Troy Rec will host a sixth-eighth grade “Snowflake Dance” from 7-10 p.m. Tickets are $4 presale (purchase at The Rec) or $5 at the door. • PORK CHOPS: The Pleasant Hill VFW Post 6557, 7578 W. Fenner Road, Ludlow Falls, will offer a marinated pork chop (non-marinated pork chops available upon request) dinner with baked potato and corn for $9 from 5-7 p.m.

• WINTER PARTY FOR WILDLIFE: Join Brukner Nature Center staff and volunteers for the annual Winter Party for the Wildlife from 6-7 p.m. Enjoy refreshments, games, make a treat for your wild friends and visit with the more than 50 wildlife ambassador’s. From 7-8 p.m., enjoy a nocturnal adventure along BNC’s trails. Admission is a gift from the center’s wish list for the ambassadors. Check out the wish list on the Wishes for Wildlife tree (located at the entrance of the Critter Corner) for some great gift ideas.

• DINNER SET: A country fried steak dinner will be offered at 6 p.m. at the Troy Fish & Game.

• KARAOKE: Karaoke with Papa D, for the last time before he retires, will be from 7 p.m. to close at the American Legion Post 586 in Tipp City. Karaoke will continue in January with a new DJ.Sunday

• BREAKFAST: The Pleasant Hill VFW Post 6557, 7578 W. Fenner Road, Ludlow Falls, will offer made-to-order breakfasts ala cart from 8-10 a.m.

• CONCERT: The Tippecanoe Community Band, directed by Gail Ahmed, will visit Piqua Baptist Church, 1402 W. High St., Piqua, at 7 p.m. and present “Sounds of the Season,” a concert of traditional Christmas music in full concert band style, plus fun songs for the children. Everyone welcome. • BREAKFAST: The Tipp City American Legion Post 586 will offer breakfast from 8-11 a.m. featuring eggs your way, bacon, sausage, toast, biscuits, sausage gravy, pancakes, waffles, home fries, french toast, cinnamon rolls,

• TROY NOON OPTIMISTS: Eric Herman, superintendent, will update the State of Troy City Schools.

• CRAFTY LISTENERS: The Crafty Listeners meet every Monday from 1-2:30 p.m. at the Milton-Union Public Library multi-purpose room. The audiobook club enjoys lighthearted books while working on individual craft projects. Feel free to bring lunch for yourself or snacks to share with the group. No sign up necessary and all are welcome to attend.

• BOOK DISCUSSION: Join staff for a book discussion at the Troy-Miami County Public Library at 6:30 p.m.. Participants will be reading and discussing “The Language of Flowers” by Vanessa Diffenbaugh for the month of December. • DINNER: The Sons of the American Legion Post 43 will be serving pizzas, calzones and wings every Tuesday from 5:30-8 p.m.

• TINY TOTS: Tiny Tots meet from 11-11:30 a.m. at the Milton-Union Public Library in West Milton. This is an interactive opportunity for children from birth to 3-years-old and their caretakers to hear stories, play games, sing songs, and do other activities with children’s librarian Wendy Heisey.

• LIBRARY BOARD MEETING: The Milton-Union Public Library Board of Trustees will meet at 7 p.m. The library is located at 560 S. Main St., West Milton.

• CRAFTS: The Tipp City Seniors members and guests will be offered crafts and quilting at 9 a.m. at 320 S. First St., Tipp City.

• QARTER AUCTION: The Tipp City American Legion Post 586 will host a quarter auction from 7-9 p.m. Admission is $2 and gives participants one number for bidding, more numbers will be available for purchase. All proceeds go to the charity of the evening. Food will be offered for purchase from 5:30-8:30 pm. at reasonable prices.

• WINTER SOLSTICE: The theme of this season’s event is “Wildlife & Wild Places.” Come meet the photo contest participants and enjoy their photographs that capture the beauty and majesty of wildlife and wild places. Doors will open at 7 p.m. and refreshments will include a variety of homemade cookies and candies, enjoyed with a mug of hot chocolate or flavored coffee. At 7:15 p.m., participants will settle into their seats for a lecture presented by the staff of the Ohio Department of Nature Resources Division of Wildlife, sharing their latest projects and updated research. Information will be given on the life history, status in Ohio, research initiatives and how you can help Ohio’s wildlife. Admission for this seasonal celebration is $5 for BNC members and $10 for non-members (cash or check). All participants in BNC’s Photo Contest are admitted free of charge. All proceeds from this event and the sale of the photographs will support BNC’s own wildlife research projects. This exhibit will feature the work of both adult and youth participants. The exhibit will also be open to the public during business hours through March 13.
• HOLIDAY CONCERT: A holiday concert with the Ohio Valley British Brass Band will be at 7 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church, Troy.

• LUNCHEON: The Tipp City Seniors will have a board of trustees meeting at 10 a.m. Members and guests will have a carry-in luncheon following at noon at 320 S. First St., Tipp City, with a Christmas gifting party.
