Meeks celebrate 50th anniversary

PIQUA — Gary Meek and the former Deborah Applegett were united in marriage Sept. 8, 1967, at the Evangelical United Brethren Church by the Rev. Charles Selby. Debbie is a pianist, having served as a church pianist for 40 years. Gary retired in 2001 after 35 years of teaching at Piqua High School. He currently works at the Piqua Public Library as the coordinator of the Local History Department.

The couple have two children, Dawn (Dane) Widney, Adam (Kristy) Meek, and five grandchildren, Drake and Danielle Widney, Katelyn Vigen, and Gavin and Jacey Meek.

The couple was feted at a luncheon hosted by their children at the Piqua Country Club on Sunday, Sept. 10, with friends and family in attendance. The Meeks will also be celebrating their 50th anniversary with a New England cruise later this fall.
