    Wise Family Graveyard

From page 86 of the book:
Cemetery Inscriptions of Newberry Township in Miami County Ohio
    by Joseph H. Bosserman

Unused for over 100 years, this cemetery has returned to the wooded wilderness in which the first settlers found it. The land on which it lays was first deeded by the United States to Jacob Wise on 8 Oct 1808. This is recorded in Miami County, Ohio Deed Book 26, page 547. It is located in the southwest quarter of Section 15, Range 4, Township 10. It is sometimes called the "Old Loxley Cemetery" after the Benjamin Loxley family who owned the farm on which it is situated many years later. It is approximately 100 by 30 feet in area. The readings listed were taken on 2 Jul 1977 by Lois Ann Baker, Diane Schrader and Joseph H. Bosserman and compared against earlier lists taken by Mrs. Jay Minnich in 1956 and Mr. Don Bowman in 1976. Evidently, from the ruins, there were nearly twice as many burials than can now be accounted for.

In December 1982, Mr. Robert Wise Hill of Covington, Ohio told me: QUOTE: "Many of the graves were removed from this cemetery to the
Old Harris Creek Cemetery in the early 1900's." jhb  UNQUOTE
