Joseph Burkett
1760-1833

Joseph was born during 1760 in North Carolina. He came to Miami County from North Carolina in 1806.

He was a private in Captain William Hext's Company, 1st South Carolina Regiment, commanded by Colonel Cotes Pinckney. He enlisted in 1779 and is shown on the Reginment's roll of 1780. He was in the siege of Charleston South Carolina and his name appears in the year book of the City of Charleston for 1789 on the list of the military.

Joseph died in Miami County Ohio and is buried in the Sugar Grove Cemetery, Newton Township, Miami County Ohio.
