Joseph Hutton DeFrees
1753-1826

Joseph was born in New York City during 1753. He moved to Trenton New Jersey at the age of 12, then to Philadelphia, and finally, in 1811, to Miami County Ohio. He died in 1826 and is buried in the Johnson Cemetery north of Piqua.

He was a private from Pennsylvania, fought through all of the Revolution, and was a ship's carpenter on a privateer.
