Amos Spencer

Amos Spencer 1759-1847
Spencer was a private. He had enlisted for three years in the fall
of 1777 in Prince William County Virginia, 11th Virginia Regiment. He served
under Captians Gallagher, Davis and Wright, and under Colonels Morgan,
Feebacker, Heath, and Wood. Amos was injured at the battle of Brandywine
when a wagon of ammunition and baggage fell on him during the retreat.
He was also at the Storming of Stony Point, New York, and was discharged
in November 1780 near there.
Amos was a weaver by trade. He died in Miami County Ohio and is buried
in the Staunton Cemetery.
