CASSTOWN — The May 2016 Miami East FFA Members of the Month are Emily Beal, Katie Bendickson, Kelsey Kirchner, Hunter Sharp and Nathan Teeters. They are all retired chapter officers and will soon be graduates of Miami East High School.
Emily Beal is the daughter of John and Melissa Beal of Conover. She was a National Proficiency Winner in the area of Goat Production and a Star State Farmer Candidate. She plans to attend The Ohio State University – ATI and major in Agricultural Communications.
Katie Bendickson is the daughter of Derick and Kris Bendickson of Troy. She participated in educating elementary students about agriculture at the FFA’s annual Ag Dayand earned her State FFA Degree. She is attending Wright State University majoring in nursing.
Kelsey Kirchner is the daughter of David and Kathy Kirchner of Conover. She was a National Proficiency Finalist and participant of the Food Science Career Development Event. She plans to attend Edison Community College and major in Elementary Education.
Hunter Sharp is the son of Robert and Jenny Sharp of Troy. He earned his State FFA Degree and is constantly an excellent source of assistance in the chapter’s activities. He plans to participate in the pipe fitting and welding program within the Lima Ohio Union.
Nathan Teeters is the son of Micah and Kristi Teeters of Fletcher. He was a National Proficiency Finalist and coordinator of the Grain Rescue Tube Trainings and fundraising for Heifer International. He plans to attend The Ohio State University and major in mechanical engineering.
Every month of the school year the Miami East FFA will select a student to be the FFA Member of the Month. The officer team will nominate one student that has been actively involved in the FFA chapter, school and community activities. If selected, the member will be recognized at the monthly FFA meeting, have their picture displayed in the Miami East Ag Room, and will receive a special medallion on celebration of their accomplishment.
