TIPP CITY — Lightning may be to blame for a house fire in Tipp City Monday night.
Tipp City fire crews responded to a house fire in the 1200 block of Hazeldean Court just before midnight. The exact cause of the fire has not been determined, but crews believe it was caused by lightning during Monday’s storms.
“We’re not sure but we think it was lightning,” Tipp City Fire Chief Steve Kessler said.
The residents were in the home and got out safely. No injuries were reported, Kessler said.
Kessler estimated that the home suffered about $150,000 in damage.
“The first floor is burnt out to the rafters,” Kessler said.
An investigation is underway to determine the exact cause.
