Staff Reports

TROY — The theme for the 2016 Troy Mayors’ Concert is “Sonic Spectacular!” and the board of directors of Troy Mayors’ Concerts Inc. is expecting impressive sounds to fill the air in downtown Troy.

The event is set for 7 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 21 on Prouty Plaza. The rain location is Troy Christian School gymnasium.

This year marks the 24th annual concert featuring the Dayton Philharmonic Concert Band and Festival Chorus.

As in past years, handicapped parking will be available and organizers will have Girl Scouts who will assist with wheelchairs.

The Dayton Philharmonic Orchestra is the largest and oldest performing arts organization in the Dayton area.

Neal Gittleman is the principal conductor and music director.

The Dayton Philharmonic Festival Chorus was founded in 2001 as the training choir of the Dayton Philharmonic. The DPFC performs in lighter concerts during the holiday and summer seasons, such as the annual Troy Mayor’s Concert with the Dayton Philharmonic Band, and Hometown Holiday Pops. The DPFC’s is directed by DPOC Chorus Manager Amy Vaubel.
