MIAMI COUNTY — The Miami County Commissioners accepted several quotes for services at their meeting Thursday, including sewer and water bill printing and mailing.
Following the acceptance of a quote, the county will contract with SmartBill, out of Hebron, Ohio, for the monthly printing and mailing of water and sewer bills on behalf of the Sanitary Engineering Department.
The bills were printed in house, but the department’s equipment is about 10 years old and difficult to use, said Nikki Francis with the Sanitary Engineering Department.
Now the department’s data files will be sent to the company four times a month, to be sent out as a monthly bill.
The department sends out a little more than 3,000 regular bills and 500 past dues each month, Francis said.
The total cost of this service, over a period of two years, is not to exceed $30,000. The Sanitary Engineering Department will still continue to pay for postage.
Tipp City, West Milton, and Vandalia currently use SmartBill.
The commissioners accepted a quote from NR Lee Restoration for the tuck pointing, chemical cleaning, and water sealing of the Power Plant’s brick exterior.
About 5,000 linear feet of damaged mortar will be repaired, as well as the sealing and cleaning of the exterior, at a cost of $33,592. This includes a $3,000 contingency in case any bricks need to be replaced.
The board also authorized the issue and sale of bonds on behalf of Upper Valley Medical Center.
These hospital facilities revenue bonds will be issued for the purpose of refinancing debt. The aggregate principal amount is not to exceed $37,500,000.
The commissioners also approved the purchase of a 2016 Ford Escape on behalf of the clerk of courts at a cost of $19,000. A 2001 Ford Taurus will be traded in.
