PIQUA — Piqua police, fire and units from Ohio State Highway Patrol are on the scene of a suspicious device found at 652 W. Ash St., Piqua.

A maintenance man found the suspicious device at a rental unit that is believed to be vacant and called police for assistance.

When police arrived, they in turn contacted the Dayton Bomb Squad to come and evaluate the device. The bomb squad is currently on the scene of the Ash Street address.

As a precaution, residences on both sides of the street have been evacuated.

Police also have closed College Street from High to North streets and Ash Street from Franlklin to Walker streets until there is a determination of what the suspicious object may be and what needs to be done.

More information will be shared as soon as it is available.
