MONROE TOWNSHIP — Monroe Township Trustees approved the 2016 Tax Rates on Monday, Sept. 19 as determined by the Miami County Budget Commission. Also at their meeting, township bills were paid totaling $48,357; and the township’s fiscal officer reported the Sept. 12 filing of assessments with Miami County offices for mowing charges accrued by the township over tall grass and noxious weeds violations in 2016.
Miami County events noted by the board for area residents include the 2016 Tipp City Mum Festival Sept. 24-25; the Miami County Household Hazardous Waste Drop-Off each Wednesday in September and October from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at 2200 N. County Road 25-A in Troy; and Beggar’s Night in Miami County set for Monday, Oct. 31 from 6-8 p.m.
In reports by trustees and township staff, it was noted graves still available in section 7 of Maple Hill Cemetery number 185; plans continue for the opening of section 8 at Maple Hill in a couple years; and Monroe Township Water and Sewer Board members are making strides for the Country Estates East project with attainment of easements and preparation to advertise bids on this project.
The next meeting held by the township trustees will be Monday, Oct. 3 at 7 p.m. in the township board room, 6 E. Main St., Tipp City. Area residents are asked to make note that the township offices and facilities will be closed on Monday, Oct. 10 in observance of Columbus Day with the exception of a 6 p.m. Oct. 10 meeting by the Monroe Township Water and Sewer Board in the township meeting room in Tipp City.
