MIAMI COUNTY — At their meeting Thursday, the Miami County Commissioners welcomed a new director of the Department of Development.
Richard Osgood, who previously served as the Director of Community Development for the city of Sharonville, Ohio, will take over as the county’s new Director of the Department of Development.
“I’m looking forward to it,” Osgood said, adding that he toured the county Thursday morning. “I saw a lot of people out Christmas shopping. Very active communities, very pretty communities.”
He replaces Craig Thompson, who left in September after two years as director.
“We believe we found a very good candidate in Richard Osgood,” Commissioner John “Bud” O’Brien said. “We have high expectations for you and we know you won’t let us down.”
Osgood has experience in planning, zoning, economic development as building code and property management enforcement. He is also experienced in flood plain management and storm water district administration.
Osgood will start in December at a pay rate of $88,000 a year.
