MIAMI COUNTY — The Miami County Commissioners voted to authorized repairs to county property and approved more agreements concerning the county’s switch to the state’s Multi-Agency Radio Communication System.
The commissioners approved repairs for the Miami County Animal Shelter furnace at their meeting Thursday.
A crack in the furnace heat exchanger was discovered during a routine inspection, which was causing carbon monoxide to leak into the office and lobby. The furnace was immediately shut off.
Rieck Services will repair the furnace, replacing the cracked heat exchanger and other parts, at a cost not to exceed $2,534.
The board also signed a memorandum of understanding with several area public safety agencies and the Ohio Statewide Interoperability Executive Committee. This will allow the county’s public safety agencies to program other local agencies into their radios for improved communication between agencies.
These agencies include the law enforcement, fire, and emergency management agencies of Champaign, Clark, Darke, Montgomery, and Shelby Counties.
The commissioners also accepted the resignation of Commissioner Richard Cultice, whose term will expire Dec. 30. Greg Simmons was elected to the seat earlier this year.
