MIAMI COUNTY — At their annual organization meeting on Monday, the Miami County Commissioners elected board leadership and approved membership in various boards and programs.

The board voted to elect Commissioner Jack Evans board president and Commissioner John “Bud” O’Brien vice president. Both positions are one year terms.

The board also approved several housekeeping items, including setting the formula for the distribution of the 1 cent sales tax. According to the formula, 73 percent of the funds collected will go to the county’s general fund, 23 percent to central communications, and 2 percent to both super fund cleanup and capital improvements.

The commissioners also authorized the county’s participation in various programs, including the Ohio Department of Transportation purchasing program and the state of Ohio Cooperative Purchasing Program.

The board approved the payment of 2017 membership dues for the Miami Valley Regional Planning Committee, which total $11,788.

The commissioners also set meeting times, which will remain the same — regular sessions on Tuesdays at 9 a.m. and on Thursdays at 1:30 p.m., with work sessions at 9 a.m. on Wednesdays.
