Butler receives creative writing award
EVANSVILLE, Ind. — University of Evansville student Sarah Butler of Troy has received a Department of Creative Writing 2017 Virginia Lowell Grabill Award for excellence in undergraduate creative writing. Butler, a writing major, won first place in nonfiction and second and third in poetry.
Miami students study abroad
OXFORD — The following local Miami University students were part of a study abroad group during Winter 2017 semester:

Area students ‘outstanding’ at Ohio State ATI
WOOSTER, Ohio — Grant Hodge of Tipp City and Shelby Roach of Casstown were recognized as outstanding students at the Ohio State University Agricultural Technical Institute’s 28th annual student recognition banquet on April 12.
Hodge will graduate May 6 with an Associate of Science degree in agronomy. Hodge earned Director’s List honors during three semesters at Ohio State ATI and was the recipient of the Ohio Corn and Wheat Growers Association Scholarship. He has worked with Dr. Ryan Haden as a student research assistant, helping modify and calibrate a broadcast seeder, set up a GPS guidance system on a utility vehicle and assisted in writing an OSU Extension Fact Sheet on forage and cover crop seeding technologies.
Following graduation, Hodge intends to continue his education and complete a Bachelor of Science degree in agronomy on OSU’s Columbus campus. His goal is to become a Certified Crop Advisor and agronomy consultant.
Roach will graduate May 6 with an Associate of Applied Science degree in livestock production and management. She completed an internship at Oink Moo Cluck LLC in Sunbury, where she managed market lambs, cows, and inventory for farmers markets.
Following graduation, Roach plans to pursue full-time employment with an agricultural business.
