WEST MILTON — An Arcanum man has been charged with felonious assault on a West Milton police officer.

The officer responded to a single-vehicle motorcycle crash on Thursday evening in the area of State Route 571 near Iddings Road.

“The driver was observed to be intoxicated. While talking with the driver, the driver just attacked the officer,” Sgt. Tracey Hendricks said.

The driver, 28-year-old Christopher Paul, is being held in the Miami County Jail on charges of felonious assault on a police officer, resisting arrest, OVI and failure to control.

The officer sustained minor injuries, including a bump to the head and a broken foot.

“He should be fine,” Hendricks said.

Paul was arraigned Friday morning and his bond was set at $36,000.
