TROY — Miami County Public Health invites you to join our Safe Communities Coalition to kick off the 2017 Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over Campaign at 1 p.m. Aug. 11, at the Miami County Sheriff’s building located at the Miami County Fairgrounds.
The coalition will have a wrecked vehicle display, along with an ODOT message board displaying impaired driving statistics. Coalition members and local law enforcement will host a press conference and will have a special guest speaker, a local Miami County resident who has been affected by impaired driving. Following the press conference, fairgoers will be able to sign a designated driver pledge and learn more about safe driving.
Every year, more than 10,000 lives are lost to drunk driving related crashes. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) is calling on thousands of law enforcement agencies to join in the fight against drunk driving. By working together, increasing public awareness and using a no-excuse approach to enforcement, we can send the strong message that drunk driving will not be tolerated.
