MIAMI COUNTY ― Troy-Miami County Public Library will host “Brewin’ for Books,” a fundraiser to support the Doll Parton Imagination Library, at Buffalo Wild Wings, 2313 W. Main St. in Troy, from 11 a.m. to 2 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 9.

The event is sponsored in partnership with Yellow Springs Brewery and Corks & Crafts, with 10 percent of proceeds from the food and beverage sales will help defray the cost of the books and postage required each month to deliver the books to Miami County children aged newborn to 5 years old.

“This program is made possible by donations from Miami County businesses, foundations, and United Way agencies,” said Heather Baker, community relations specialist. “We are currently providing books to each month by mail to half of all children under the age of 5 in Miami County. We are so grateful to have found a champion for childhood literacy at our local Buffalo Wild Wings.”

The Imagination Library program became a county-wide program in Miami County in 2014. Since then, more than 105,000 books have been sent to Miami County children at no cost to their parents.

Rachelle Miller, executive director of the Troy-Miami County Library, noted that over 3,000 area children receive books each month. “Our goal is to get the books into the hands of the children as quickly as possible,” she said. “The demand continues to grow, and we want to make sure each child who is registered for the program receives the books each month.”

Tickets are on sale now at the library and Buffalo Wild Wings. The first 75 tickets sold at the $30 price provides each attendee with a flight of craft beer and a thermal mug to take home. An $80 ticket includes the flight of beer, an appetizer, and the chance to create a custom Ohio craft at 1 p.m. with Corks & Crafts. A limited number of these tasting and art project tickets are available and are first-come, first-served only.

Either ticket type enters the guest in a drawing for an $80 Polished Nail Salon gift card and a signed football jersey from Alex Dalton of the Oklahoma Sooners.

The tasting and art project ticket option at a cost of $80 includes the beer tasting, a customized craft suitable for hanging, and a free appetizer from Buffalo Wild Wings. Instruction from Corks and Crafts for the art project begins at 1 p.m. Sept. 9, with assistance from the Troy Altrusa club.

Tickets are only valid for day of event during regular business hours. Additional tasting-only tickets will be available the day of event, but will not include the custom glass.
