MIAMI COUNTY — The Rec youth center of Troy is hosting its first ever Day of Gratitude event for all of Miami County’s first responders and their families on Sept. 24.
The event will be held from noon to 6 p.m. for police officers, fire department and their staffs for a day of fun at the center.
“The families of first responders also sacrifice as well so we wanted to do this event as a way to give back to not only the first responders but their spouses and their children to enjoy the day just for them,” said The Rec director Kelly Snyder.
Synder said the event is free for all volunteer and certified EMS/Police/Fire departments in Miami County, including mutual aid departments in the surrounding counties.
“It’s just a day of fun so personnel and families can drop in for lunch and enjoy the activities like a bounce house and all the activities inside the Rec as well,” she said. “We hadn’t seen anything like this event here in Miami County so it’s just our way to give back to the community because we are a community center.”
The following organizations and individuals have pledged to support the Day of Gratitude Event: Baird Funeral Home, Buffalo Wild Wings, Corigraphics, Galbreath Realtors, GNB Troy Banking Center, Nolan, Giere & Co, Rapid Fired Pizza, Sam Brown, CPA, Scott M & A Corporation, Steve and Marty Baker, Tapestry Healing Arts Center, Troy Animal Hospital/Bird Clinic, Troy Noon Optimist, Turnstone Financial, Upper Valley Hearing and Balance, Wells Fargo Home Mortgage, Primary EyeCare Associates, Unity Bank, and Wade and Susan Westfall.
