TROY — The city of Troy recreation board met during a special meeting to hire a new facility operator for Hobart Arena on Friday.
Doug Jackson was not present at the meeting.
The board unanimously approved to hire Dan Myers, of Troy, as a full-time operator at Hobart Arena. A position was open for two months following the resignation of grandfathered position of building supervisor for the facility.
Hobart Arena director Ken Siler said he interviewed several candidates and believed Myers’ two years of experience as the Wright State University’s Nutter Center operations coordinator, as well as an event coordinator with Variety Attractions, fit the Hobart Arena’s position qualifications.
“He’s worked here as a runner during events which involves what we need done before concert events, back of house and he’s worked during change overs,” Siler said. “He brings some things to the table of what we are looking for.”
President Marty Hobart made the recommendation and Tom Dunn seconded it. The full-time classified position pays $15.14 per hour. Myers starts September 18.
