County to offer paper shredding

MIAMI COUNTY — Are your filing cabinets and desk drawers cluttered? On Saturday, Oct. 21, the Miami County Sanitary Engineering Department will offer free document shredding service for county residents. The event will take place from 8 a.m. to noon under the grandstand at the Miami County Fairgrounds, 650 N. County Road 25-A in Troy.

Shredding will be provided by Crowe Shredding, which guarantees confidential file destruction — documents such as bank statements, tax forms and legal documents will be safely and securely shredded. Shredded documents will be recycled. The event is free for Miami County residents, who may bring up to four file boxes of documents for destruction. Paper clips, staples and plastic cards can be shredded, but please remove pages from heavy binders and accordion folders.

Come early, as this event is first-come first-serve. The spring shredding event, held in May, brought in over 13,000 pounds of paper from residents, filling the shred truck.

For questions about this event, please go to Sanitary Engineering at www.miamicountyohio.gov or call the office Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at (937) 440-3488.
