Troy, Piqua compete to donate

DAYTON — Donors will roll up their sleeves Thursday, Oct. 26, for the traditional Miami County arm wrestling competition for blood donations known as the Community Blood Center/US Bank Troy-Piqua Challenge.

This year marks the 20th anniversary of the rival blood drive. Troy and Piqua High Schools will hold campus blood drives on Tuesday, Oct. 24. Both community blood drives will take place Thursday, Oct. 26, from noon to 6 p.m. at the US Bank branches in Troy and Piqua.

Everyone who registers to donate will receive the “I Fight Cancer — I Give Blood” t-shirt. CBC encourages donors to schedule an appointment online at www.DonorTime.com or call 1-800-388-GIVE.

Each registration to donate at the US Bank Troy (910 West Main St.) blood drive is a vote for Troy and each registration to donate at the US Bank Piqua (200 North College St.) blood drive is vote for Piqua.

The 2017 winner of the Challenge trophy and the $1,000 prize from sponsor US Bank will be announced prior to kick off at the Friday, Oct. 27, Troy-Piqua football game at Troy Memorial Stadium.
