HEAP offers heating help through March

MIAMI COUNTY — Are you or someone you know fighting to make ends meet? Struggling with your winter heating bills? Do you have a heating emergency?

The Emergency Home Energy Assistance Program (HEAP) will run through March 31. Income eligibility for utility assistance is 175 percent of the Federal Poverty Guidelines ($43,050 per year for a household of four). HEAP provides financial assistance once per heating season to households that are threatened with disconnection, already disconnected, or have less than 25 percent supply of bulk fuel, wood or coal. HEAP can also cover assistance to establish or transfer service.

The following list includes documents required for assistance:

· All Social Security cards for every household member

· Certified birth certificates for every household member

· Proof of family income

· Driver’s license(s)

Making an appointment is best; to do so, call the Miami County Community Action Council at (937) 335-7921. Walk-ins will be served as staff is available. Office hours are Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
