TIPP CITY — Held at gun point by a local CCW instructor, Tipp City Police arrested Walter C. Schwytzer III, 44, of Englewood, who attempted to rob the Tipp O’ the Town restaurant on Saturday afternoon.
Schwytzer has been charged with aggravated robbery and remains in the Miami County Jail.
According to Tipp City Police Sgt. Greg Adkins, at 11: 56 a.m. Schwytzer entered the restaurant and handed the clerk a note, which stated he had a gun and demanded money.
The clerk complied and as Schwytzer exited the restaurant, a patron chased him out to the parking lot as Schwytzer attempted to get away in a car. The man, who asked to remain anonymous, was a CCW carrier and held Schwytzer at gunpoint with his pistol until authorities arrived minutes later.
Schwytzer was not armed, Adkins said.
“He saw what was going on and chased after him,” Adkins said.
Adkins said the patron was a local CCW instructor. He was not injured in the incident.
Adkins said West Milton Police are still investigating if Schwytzer is connected to the robbery at Pearson House on Friday.
