Babysitter of nine ODs

Curry remains in jail on nine counts of children endangerment

TROY — A Troy woman remains incarcerated at the Miami County Jail on charges that she overdosed on heroin while babysitting nine children last Sunday.

The children ranged in age from 18 months to 15 years old.

According to reports, officers were called to 224 S. Elm Street on March 20 on a possible overdose. Lindsay Curry, 28, of Troy, reportedly admitted to using one capsule of heroin after a 15-year-old relative found her unresponsive in the bathroom.

At the time of the investigation, parents of children arrived to pick up their children — eight of which were under the age of 9 years of age — that were left in Curry’s care. Parents denied knowing Curry’s use of drugs.

Children’s Services was called to assist at the scene.

According to the police report, Curry admitted to using one cap of heroin a day and denied overdosing that day.

Troy Police Department filed nine child endangerment charges and one count of drug possession, all first-degree misdemeanors, one count of fifth-degree felony drug possession and abuse and a misdemeanor drug paraphernalia charge.

Curry remains incarcerated on $55,000 bond for all charges.
