MIAMI COUNTY — Trafalgar Corporation is once again seeking a referendum vote to rezone the Trafalgar property in Concord Township. The Miami County Board of Elections approved their petition to have the referendum placed on the Nov. 8 ballot during their meeting Thursday afternoon.

This is the 18th time that Trafalgar has had this referendum placed on the ballot. It will allow Concord Township residents to vote on whether or not to rezone a 50-acre tract of land located at 1619 Monroe-Concord Road in Troy, from General Agriculture to Single Family Residential.

The board also approved Joe Mahan’s petition to run as an independent for Miami County Sheriff in the Nov. 8 General Election.

The board also approved the ballot for June 7 Special Election, in which voters of the 8th Congressional District will vote on former U.S. Representative John Boehner’s replacement. Warren Davidson, a businessman from Troy, received the Republican nomination during the March 15 Presidential Primary. Democratic candidate Corey Foister and Green Party candidate James Condit Jr. will also be running for Boehner’s seat.

The special election will be county-wide. The board will also be utilizing their newly purchased poll books during this election.

For those polls books, the board approved the purchase of Electronic Poll Book File creation utility from Triad, Inc. The initial cost for that program is $4,200 and the cost for the second year of licensing fees is $800.
