MINSTER — Norb Vanderhorst of Minster will celebrate his 80th birthday at an open house, hosted by his daughter and son-in-law, Sept. 14, 2014, beginning at 1 p.m. at 1373 Kelch Road, Russia.

Vanderhorst was born Sept. 5, 1934, in Minster, to John and Nettie (Zumberge) Vanderhorst, who are now deceased. He married Patricia Merkle on Aug. 12, 1967. She passed in 1978.

He has a daughter and son-in-law, Dina and Jim Marchal, of Russia; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Mary and OJ Fullenkamp, of Maria Stein, and Dorothy and Cy Borchers, of Centerville; and several nieces and nephews.

Vanderhorst served in the U.S. Army from 1955 to 1957 and worked for Minster Machine Foundry for 31 years. He is a member of the St. Augustine Church in Minster, Minster Eagles 1391, Piqua Antique Car Klub and Minster Legion Post 387.

He enjoys going to singles dances and spending time with his family.
