Rec offers soccer sessions

TROY — The Troy Rec will offer two sessions of indoor soccer in 2017: one for pre-K and kindergarten and the second for first and second grade students. Registration will take place at The Rec, 11 N. Market St. on the following days and times: Dec. 15 from 4-7 p.m. , and Dec. 16 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. The fee for each student is $35 and includes a team t-shirt, team picture, and award. Payment is due at registration.

The first and second grade session will practice and play in January/February. Pre-K and kindergarten (ages 4 to kindergarten) session will practice and play in March/April.

Get wild, get walking

PIQUA — Get motivated to walk and get healthier with the YW Wild Walking Women beginning Tuesday, Dec. 20. The ladies will meet to walk on Tuesdays and Thursdays for a four-week period from 9-10 a.m. Participants will meet at The Miami Valley Centre Mall and Nancy Hirby and Joan Beck, facilitators, will guide the group each week.

“We have a fun time, have an opportunity to meet new friends and a time to develop our health and well-being,” said Beck and Hirby. “Motivation and laughter keep us going as we get healthier together.” Pre-registration is requested. YMCA hosts fitness challenge

MIAMI COUNTY — The Miami County YMCA is hosting an eight-week Total Body Transformation challenge. This program is designed to change you from the inside out through education, accountability, and a strategic exercise plan.

The Total Body Transformation challenge begins Jan. 9. Each participant will meet in a small group with a personal trainer, for two sessions a week. The program will be offered at both the Piqua and Robinson branches.

Program consists of a pre and post fitness assessment and weekly emails including various topics such as: nutritional information, healthy recipes, and motivational support. Every participant will also receive a T-shirt and weekly prize opportunities.

Dulcimer concert set

TROY — The Mountain Dulcimer Society of Dayton will hold its annual concert at Troy-Hayner Cultural Center at 7:30 p.m. Jan. 13.

The concert will feature Dana and Hank Gruber. This Cincinnati couple has been performing as a duo since Dana first fell in love with the hammered dulcimer in 1997. Their free concert at the Hayner will feature a wide variety of music played with warmth and humor.

In conjunction with this concert, The Mountain Dulcimer Society of Dayton will also host a workshop with the Grubers the following day. This dynamic workshop will include all skill levels from the basics to creating an ensemble. The cost for the workshop is $15 for members and $20 for non-members, and will be held at the West Charleston Church of the Brethren in Tipp City.
