Ft. Rowdy seeks nominations
COVINGTON — The Fort Rowdy Gathering is seeking nominations for grand marshal for the 25th Gathering, to be held Labor Day Weekend.
Nominees should be Covingto-area residents who have shown continuing support of the community, either in public activities, or quietly in the background. Nominees may be private residents, business leaders, individuals, couples or groups.
All submissions should include the nominee’s name and phone number, why you are nominating them — such as things they have done or accomplished for the community, and your name and phone number in case the committee needs more information about the nominee.
Submissions should be mailed to: Fort Rowdy Gathering, P.O. Box 23, Covington, OH, 45318, and be received no later than March 20.
Painting, drawing classes set at Hayner
TROY — The Troy-Hayner Cultural Center will offer painting and drawing classes taught by experienced instructors. Whether you are an experienced artist looking to hone your skills or a beginner, the Troy-Hayner Cultural Center’s Mary Coleman Allen Art Academy has a drawing or painting class for you.
Experienced instructor, Donna Pierce-Clark offers classes for beginners in watercolor or oil painting. Paint and more is included in the fee for these swven-week classes that begin in mid-January. For more advanced students, she also offers watercolor and oil painting studios.
Portrait and Figure Study group meets Thursday afternoons to gain experience drawing from live, clothed models. Students bring their favorite medium to use during the class. Shirley Harbaugh is the coordinator for this group that begins meeting on Feb. 2.

Y offers Saturday Night Live event
MIAMI COUNTY — the Miami County YMCA Robinson Branch is offering a Saturday Night Live Event on Saturday, Jan. 21, for youth in kindergarten through sixth grade. This will be a fun-filled night with swimming, gym games, a bounce house, and a movie. Pizza and lemonade will be served during the movie time. Drop off begins at 7 p.m. and pick up is at 11:30 p.m. Saturday. The cost is $10 for members and $16 for non-members.
