Opioid awareness events set

TROY — From Sept. 18-20, the Troy-Miami County Public Library will host events for Heroin and Opioid Awareness Week presented by the Miami County Recovery Council, Tri-County Board of Recovery and Mental Health Services and Miami County Public Health.

From 6-8 p.m., Monday is Prevention and Education Night, a community panel including first responders. Narcan training and distribution with a guest speaker from Family of Addicts will be held from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday night, and a panel discussion with recovery treatment agencies will be held at the same time on Wednesday night.

And interactive display will be open to the public from 5:30-8 p.m. nightly.

Library to host book sale

TIPP CITY — The Friends of the Tipp City Public Library are hosting their annual fall book sale on Saturday, Sept. 30, , from 9:30 a.m. until 4 p.m. in the Senseman Meeting Room at the Library, 11 E. Main St., Tipp City. Get a sneak preview at members’ night, available to Friends only, on Friday, Sept. 29 from 1-6 p.m. Become a member or renew your membership that day.

Children’s books, hard back and paper books, tapes, CDs, and DVDs will be featured. Proceeds to benefit the library.

Troy Road closures for Winans 10K

TROY — On Sunday, September 10, 2017, the Winans to Winans Half Marathon event will start in Troy. To facilitate this event: From 7:30 a.m. – approximately 8:20 a.m., Water Street will be closed from Adams Street to N. Market Street and Adams Street will be closed from Water Street to Staunton Road. Briefly, as runners approach other roadways that are part of the route, traffic will be stopped. Motorists are asked to be aware of this event.

Bethel to celebrate building milestones

BETHEL TWP. — This weekend, Bethel Local Schools will celebrate the anniversary of one building and the opening of another.

The 100th anniversary celebration of the oldest building is set for Saturday, Sept. 9, at 11 a.m. in Bethel Hall. Doors open at 10 a.m. Complimentary commemorative items will be given to the first 300 attendees. This celebration is geared toward the alumni and senior citizens in the community. Following the program, tour the new high school addition and see many of the renovated areas.

On Sunday at 2 p.m., the district will celebrate the opening of the new high school with a ribbon cutting a dedication ceremony. This event is open to the entire community. Tours of the new addition will be offered from 3-5 p.m.
