Beginner’s beekeeping course offered
MIAMI COUNTY — Ohio State University Extension will offer a Beginner’s Beekeeping Course on Tuesdays in the month of October. The course will be of interest to honeybee enthusiasts and anyone thinking about starting their own beekeeping business venture.
The class will cover topics on equipment, inspecting a hive, local ordinances, bee biology, foraging, diseases and pests, challenges, goals and seasonal management. Participants will hear from experienced local beekeepers that can provide a wealth of knowledge to the novice beekeeper.
Classes will begin Oct. 13 from 6:30-8:30 p.m. The class will meet in the Extension Meeting room at the Old Courthouse on 201 W Main Street, Troy, Ohio. The cost is $50 for four sessions and includes a binder with handouts, refreshments and a beginner’s beekeeping book.

Saturday Night Live event set
MIAMI COUNTY — The Miami County YMCA Robinson Branch is offering a Saturday Night Live even Saturday, Sept. 26 for youth in first through sixth grade. This will be a night filled with swimming, gym games, a bounce house, and a movie. Pizza and lemonade will be served during the movie time. Drop off begins at 7 p.m. and pick up is at 11:3 p.m. Saturday.
