Bates joins practice


TROY — Jody Bates, CNP, has joined Stanfield Family Care in Troy.


Bates is a graduate of Indiana Wesleyan’s Nurse Practitioner program. She has certifications toward acute and primary family care; such as trauma nursing, pediatric advanced life support and neonatal resuscitation. She is also NIH Stroke and telemetry certified.


Nurse practitioners are clinical medical professionals who provide care in collaboration with a physician. They can examine patients, order tests, make diagnoses, prescribe medications and provide education and treatment plans.


Stanfield Family Care, located at 31 Stanfield Road, Suite 304, provides comprehensive healthcare for the entire family to the Troy and surrounding communities.

Card shower set for Benning


TROY — Lois Benning will be celebrating her 80th birthday on Sept. 2.


She was born in 1934 to Helen and J D Shade.


Lois married Edward Benning on June 7, 1952, and had three children, Gary and Jane Baker Benning, Jerry and Jeanne Keyes Benning and Carolyn and Dan Christman. They have eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.


She has been retired from the Newton School cafeteria for 16 years, but she still enjoys cooking for her family during the holidays. The family would like to invite all her friends, acquaintances and extended family to participate in a card shower by sending a birthday card to: Lois Benning, 1325 Keller Drive, Troy, OH 45373.


Avoiding scams program offered


TROY — Avoiding Investment Scams at Troy-Miami County Public Library


Suzzy Mangas, program manager of the Better Business Bureau serving Dayton and the Miami Valley, will give a free presentation at 1 p.m. September 13 at the Troy-Miami County Public Library; get the information you need to protect yourself from investment scams.
