GREENVILLE — Koenig Equipment and Ferguson Construction have been honored with an Excellence in Construction Eagle Award by the Ohio Valley Associated Builders and Contractors Inc. for the design and construction of Koenig’s new facility in Greenville. Detailed plans for the facility revolved around increasing capacity while enhancing customer service, ensuring employee safety and improving efficiency and productivity.
Located at 5155 Children’s Home-Bradford Road, the new building opened to the public in February 2015, twice the size of the previous property on State Route 571. In addition to an expanded retail store and lobby, the 42,000 square feet structure boasts an immense shop area, wash bay for dirt and grain residue removal to protect customer investments, and enlarged parts storage area to stock genuine OEM parts needed to serve customers. The facility also includes a spacious conference room for employee and customer learning events.
Koenig President Aaron Koenig commented on the vast service center, housing six combines at one end under the high roof. “In the old facility, those would have taken up all of the space, but now we still have more than half of the space available,” Koenig said. High overhead doors allow transporting massive agricultural equipment easily in and out for repair, while 3-ton capacity overhead cranes are utilized for repairing equipment safely.
Koenig’s customers include not only large-scale farmers, but also homeowners, landscapers and contractors. Broad product lines expand premium brands of agricultural equipment, utility vehicles, compact tractors and handhelds such as Stihl trimmers, blowers and chainsaws. Support does not end after the sale, as Koenig’s certified service technicians repair all makes and models of equipment.
Technical Service Director Ken Koenig, grandson of the company founder, reiterates the customer focus behind the Greenville project, stating “The customers invest in us, this is our investment in support of what they do for us.” Aaron echoes those comments, saying, “Here we can serve our customers better.”
The Ohio Valley Associated Builders and Contractors (OVABC) Excellence in Construction Awards program is designed to publicly recognize the quality and innovation of merit shop construction. By recognizing the workmanship of those who contribute and by the results of their commitment, the awards competition serves to raise the level of construction standards throughout the industry.
