COVINGTON — The R.W. Earhart Company of Troy is expanding its operations into a 12,000-square-foot facility in Covington at 700 Mote Drive.
The building was formerly occupied by The Service Company, a full-service truck repair company, which has relocated and expanded its business into a new 22,000-square foot facility at 453 Troy Pike (State Route 41), Covington.
The R.W. Earhart Company, an independent propane and fuel provider, has been providing customized fuel services for over 60 years and most recently acquired Franz Petroleum products in Deshler, Ohio. The company also owns and operates three bulk propane plants in Deshler, Holgate and Bascom.
The Service Company was established in 1978 and is a Cummins full-service dealer and an affiliate dealer with Volvo representing parts, service and warranty handling for both companies. They also offer long- or short-term truck rental or leasing through their sister company, Service Leasing. The Covington facility employees 15 full-time employees and they work on all makes of class 7 and 8 trucks and trailers while providing a large parts inventory. Along with its location in Covington, they are located in Greenville and services Darke County, as well as the surrounding counties.
Paul Todd, president of The Service Company, is pleased with the sale of the Mote Drive facility. He said it allows the company to expand its operations to accommodate an increase in demand and the new facility will allow them to offer more parts and a larger service area.
“It is also very good for the Covington community to have the Earhart Petroleum Company to provide more employment opportunities as well as tax revenue,” Todd said.
