It took some time, but Hobart Arena officials finally landed a performer they were eying for the past couple of years.

Arena manager Ken Siler announced Monday Billy Currington has signed on for a March 29 show at Hobart as part of the singer’s We Are Tonight Tour.

Currington will be joined by up-and-coming artists Brett Eldredge and Chase Rice for the 8 p.m. show.

“He’s been one of the country artists that has been on our target list and he’s a proven artists with eight No. 1 hits,” Siler said about Currington, who recently released “We Are Tonight” — his first album in three years. “He’s been on our radar for about two years to come to Hobart and, to my knowledge, he has not performed in this area for several years.”

A Grammy-nominated platinum-selling singer/songwriter, Currington has fashioned a career packed with radio hits ranging from “Don’t,” “Good Directions” and “Must Be Doin’ Something Right” to “People Are Crazy,” “Pretty Good at Drinkin’ Beer” and “That’s How Country Boys Roll.”

His latest hit single, “Hey Girl,” is off “We Are Tonight,” which was released on the Mercury Records label in September.

Newcomers Eldredge and Rice both have hit the ground running in the country music industry. Eldredge posted his first No. 1 single “Don’t Ya” this year from his debut album “Bring You Back,” while Rice — who co-wrote Florida Georgia Line’s blockbuster “Cruise” — released his EP “Ready Set Roll” in October.

Siler said bringing the three performers to Troy should make for an exciting night of music at Hobart.

“We’ve had success with these shows where we’ve had country acts with multiple artists on the ticket, and we think it’s going to be a great show,” he said.

Tickets for the March 29 concert — the lone Ohio stop on Currington’s tour — are on sale now at the Hobart Arena box office, online at www.hobartarena.com, or by phone at 339-2911. Ticket prices are $32, $44 and $66.
