PIQUA — Go Red Goes North is an initiative by the American Heart Association to bring the Go Red movement to the communities north of the I-70/75 corridor. This health and wellness event and luncheon will be held from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 18, at the Fort Piqua Plaza Banquet Center in Piqua and is locally sponsored by Upper Valley Medical Center, part of Premier Health.
A health and wellness expo will be featured from 10-11:30 a.m., where vendors will be on hand offering everything from blood pressure checks to chair massages. A heart healthy lunch will be served from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m and the keynote speaker will be Cammy Dierking, a Cincinnati news anchor and inspirational speaker. Cammy will share her insight on creating balance in our day to day lives and share her personal story.
In keeping with the messaging of the Go Red campaign, the goal is to educate and empower attendees to know their numbers and take control of their health. The Go Red for Women Luncheon is designed to create an inspirational and informative atmosphere, which will encourage women and those who love them to become champions of health. It will also focus on the vitality and energy of women.
This is the fifth year for the Go Red Goes North event. More than 200 attendees are expected. Along with Upper Valley Medical Center, other sponsors include Wilson Memorial Hospital, Midmark, Troy Daily News, Piqua Daily Call, Sidney Daily News, the Weekly Record Herald and WPTW/Muzzy Broadcasting. Go Red for Women is nationally sponsored by Macy’s.
