RESTON, Va. — Ranger Rick magazine and the National Wildlife Federation have announced that Noah Brush, age 8, of Troy, has been named one of the winners of Ranger Rick magazine’s “Your Best Shots” Photo Contest.
The award is given to photographers under 13 who best advance the mission of the magazine with spectacular eye-popping nature photographs.
Brush’s photo of a polar bear swimming at the Columbus Zoo was selected by NWF judges out of thousands of entries for publication in the August 2014 issue of Ranger Rick magazine.
Brush got his winning action shot just as the polar bear jumped into the water. He took many photos that day, but this was his favorite.
“I really like how you can see the bubbles in the water,” he said.
“Through Ranger Rick magazine, National Wildlife Federation has worked to connect children and youth with nature for decades,” said Mary Dalheim, editorial director of Ranger Rick and Ranger Rick Jr. magazines at the National Wildlife Federation.
“Noah’s photo highlights the beauty of nature and the importance of getting outside to enjoy America’s wildlife and wildlands,” Dalheim said.
The Ranger Rick magazine “Your Best Shots” Photo Contest is open year-round to legal residents of the United States (excluding Puerto Rico) who are 13 years of age or younger as of the beginning date of the photo contest and who have entered with the consent of a parent or legal guardian.
