TROY — Carstar is up and running with its newest location in Troy.
Tom Martin, owner of Carstar, opened his first Carstar location in 2004 in Sidney. Moving 10 years into the future, he now has a second location in Troy.
“We decided that Troy was the best place to open our business and it just seemed like the right thing to do,” Martin said.
Martin decided to start working in the car repair business when he was only 15 and still in school. He was hired to paint the outside of a body shop building and became interested in painting the cars that were in the shop being fixed. He asked the owner of the shop if he could have a job inside the shop, the owner said yes and Martin started by washing cars and sweeping floors.
Martin said he was in Cincinnati on business when he first saw a Carstar shop. He went in, looked at the facility and liked how the store looked. The more he investigated the business, the more it grew on him.
“I decided that I wanted to work with this company after I found out more about them,” Martin said.
Carstars offer 24/7 accident assistance, towing assistance and on-site rental car service, according to Martin.
“We provide customer pickup and vehicle delivery, repair all makes and models and we work with most insurance companies,” he said.
Troy Carstar is dedicated to providing an exceptional auto body repair experience for its customers, Martin said. He also believes in continued training because cars have changed so much in the past 11 years since he started with Carstar.
“We built a 30-person training room in our facility to continuously train our employees so they can give customers the highest quality auto body repair,” Martin said.
The company is headquartered in Overland Park, Kansas, and was founded in 1989 and has repaired more than 3 million vehicles since opening. Carstar and its franchise network employs some 4,000 automotive professionals throughout the United States and Canada.
“We fix minor dents and dings to major collision repair,” Martin said.
The motto of Carstar is “Relax and we’ll take it from here.” If you are in an accident, according to Martin, you can contact Carstar and they will pick you up from the accident, tow your car to their facility and even contact a friend or family member to pick you up from their location.
“I would like to thank the community of Troy for being so open and receiving. It’s refreshing for a community to be so welcoming and I would just like to thank them for it.”
