TROY — If you are one of many looking forward to the largest Kroger store in the Dayton area to open in Troy, you will have to wait just a few months longer.
According to Kroger headquarters, the 124,000-square-feet of new space for the grocery store will open in first few months of 2016.
Patty Leeseman, media representative for Kroger, said the new facility is an $18 million investment in the community, but failed to give a specific grand opening date.
Leeseman did divulge that the new store will boast a Growler station with craft beer on tap, Murray’s cheese shop and a sushi station.
It also will be the first Dayton store to offer online shopping through its ClickList online shopping feature, a Fred Meyer Jewelers and apparel, Leeseman said.
ClickList is an online ordering system where Kroger Plus customers submit their orders online and then pick them up by appointment. The feature also includes curbside pick-up where associates will even load your order into your vehicle for you.
The ClickList feature was piloted at several Cincinnati-area stores this summer.
There are approximately 200 employees at the current store. Leeseman said the store will need an additional 355 employees to fill its traditional duties like grocery and produce clerks and pharmacy technicians as well as new positions such as line cooks, chefs, ClickList associates, and beer and wine attendants.
