Safety scholarships offered

MIAMI COUNTY — The goal of the Miami County Safety Council is to help reduce Workers’ Compensation premiums by enhancing worker safety and health. This is done through education programs for both adults and students. For the past three years, the safety council has awarded scholarships to promote safety in the workplace.

The council is offering three different scholarships this year to be used towards a safety oriented program where a Miami County student learns about safety or health. This could include business management, industrial management, medical career or social services.

A student enrolled at Edison Community College will receive $500; $500 will go to a student enrolled in an accredited college of choice; and $250 will go to an adult student enrolled at the Upper Valley Career Center Adult Division. The deadline for applications is April 1.

Applications can be obtained through Piqua Chamber of Commerce or online at www.piquaareachamber.com and click on “Safety Council” and then “Scholarships.”
