LIMA — Luke Dillahunt rushed for five touchdowns and more than 200 yards as Troy Christian opened the season with a 42-32 win over Perry Friday.

“It was a slugfest-type of game,” Troy Christian coach Steve Nolan said. “They would score, then we would score, then they would score and then we would score. It just kept going back and forth like that all night long. They had 44 kids and we had 23 kids, but we just hung in there. The kids played hard.

“They had a really good quarterback. He threw for something like 300 yards and probably rushed for 150. I would think they would win six or seven games this season.”

With the win, Troy Christian improved to 1-0, while Perry fell to 0-1. Troy Christian hosts Miami Valley Christian Academy in Week 2.

Bethel 30, Northridge 6

BRANDT — Bethel’s young Bees rushed for more than 300 yards Friday night against Northridge, winning their season opener 30-6 in new coach Scott Clodfelter’s debut.

Josh Wills and Mason Kretzer both scored a pair of touchdowns for the Bees (1-0), and Kurt Hamlin added a 26-yard field goal.

“We’re playing a lot of freshmen and sophomores, and Northridge is a big and fast team,” Clodfelter said. “I was proud of host the guys responded and played.”

The Bees host Mississinawa Valley in Week 2.

Other scores: Tippecanoe 49, Graham 13. St. Henry 34, Covington 7. Piqua 42, Toledo St. Johns 21. Anna 41, Lehman 7.
