TROY — The county commissioners heard bids from various companies to perform the 2014 center line and edge line stripping and center line layout program.
For the center line and edge line stripping, A&A Safety Inc. of Amelia, Ohio, offered a bid of $174,730 and Aero Mark Inc. of Streetsboro, Ohio, placed a bid of $191,269. Dura Mark Inc. of Aurora, Ohio, bid $171,191 and Oglesby Construction Inc. of Norwalk, Ohio, submitted a bid of $173,680. The county engineer estimates that the total for the 2014 center line and edge line stripping and center line layout program is $184,338.50.
The commissioners also heard two bids to work on the prestressed concrete box beams at the Snodgrass Road Bridge. Carr Concrete Corp. of Waverly, W.Va. submitted a bid for $106,775 and Prestress Services Industries of Lexington, Ky., bid $74,800. The engineer’s estimate is $75,000
In general business, the commissioners accepted a date to receive requests for proposals, or RPFs, for technology and design upgrade consulting for the communication center. The communication center is in need of replacing the 9-1-1 telephone system to accommodate a statutory requirement to be able to accept text messaging to 9-1-1. An ad will be placed in a Dayton-area paper on July 27, as well as on the county website.
There is also a need to consider updating the configuration of the center, which is about 24 years old. The consultant will help with marketing the four towers that have been erected around the county to cellular telephone companies and others.
Resignations were accepted for Kassi Edwards, the eligibility case aide intermittent student help at the Department of Jobs and Family Services, and Tamara Williams, who is the child support case manager in the same department.
